Conference Date:  June 3-4, 2008
Submission Deadline:   February 1, 2008
Location:  NIST, Gaithersburg, MD

Call for Participation

This workshop brings together academia, government and industry to explore innovative and practical applications of pairing-based cryptography.  Pairings have been used to create identity-based encryption schemes, but are also a useful tool for solving other cryptographic problems.  We hope to encourage the development of new security applications and communication between researchers, developers and users.  In addition to presentations, the workshop will facilitate panel discussions among invited experts and workshop participants.

NIST solicits presentations, panel proposals and participation from all interested parties, including researchers, system architects, vendors, and users. Suggested topics for submissions in applications of pairing-based cryptography include:

- Internet and web security
- Voting schemes
- Health care
- Access control schemes
- IBE trust model
- Integration of PKGs with PKI
- Searching and processing encrypted data
- Broadcast systems
- Novel security applications

NIST will post the accepted presentations on the workshop web site and include them in a workshop handout, however will not publish a formal workshop proceedings.  NIST encourages presentations on work that may be published elsewhere.

Deadlines:

- Abstracts due: February 1, 2008
- Notification to presenters: February 29, 2008
- Handout presentation slides due: May 16, 2008

Presenters should submit abstracts not to exceed one page (US letter-size paper, single space, single-column format with 1” margins using 12 pt or larger font).  Proposals for panels should include possible panelists and an indication of which panelists have confirmed their participation.  All submissions will be acknowledged.

Please submit the following information to ibe@nist.gov

- Name, affiliation, e-mail and postal address for the primary contact author
