IEEE Symposium on Security and Privacy

Travel Support Grants

The IEEE Computer Society Technical Committee on Security and Privacy would like encourage student participation in the Symposium by subsidizing the travel costs of individuals who would otherwise be unable to attend the conference.

Applications are due: March 30, 2006

Who should apply

Any student in good standing may apply, regardless of nationality, or any other criteria, except as noted, may apply. The decisions will be based as much as possible on both what the individual may get from the conference and may bring to the conference. IEEE TC SP will cover student registration costs and subsidize travel costs. The total subsidy will be approximately $250-$400. There will be up to seven (7) awardees.

While any student may apply for this travel support, the selection process will give preference to IEEE Security and Privacy 2006 paper authors who are doctoral students without sufficient travel funding. The awardees cannot receive support from any other source for the expenses funded by this program.

How to apply

Applications and supporting letters for a student travel grant should be emailed to the grant committee at studentgrant@ieee-security.org, as soon as possible, but no later than midnight on March 30, 2006. Award announcements will be made around April 15, 2006.

An application is a paragraph of less than 300 words stating why attending IEEE S&P 2006 be useful for his or her research.

This paragraph should include: We also need a short note from the student's advisor, mentioning the student by name and indicating why the advisor believes the student would benefit from attending IEEE S&P and confirming that the student is a doctoral candidate in good standing, and that the department is willing to pay for the student's transportation and lodging and to receive the award check from the symposium to offset the cost.

Please contact the committee via studentgrant@ieee-security.org for any further information.
